Wilber 5K for Charity

Wednesday Aug 27, 2014

It was a hot and extremely muggy Saturday, but that didn’t stop the Wilber team from conquering the obstacles and miles (and for some extra miles) of the 5KHAOS this August.

Celebrating the third year of this run, Wilber made an impressive showing of 58 participants! They came out to run, climb, jump and crawl through the mud of the Hunter Oaks Horse Ranch in Congerville, IL. in order to raise money for an excellent cause. All proceeds from the run benefitted Recovery Starts Today, Inc. assisting individuals and their families as they recover from drug addiction.

Subrogation Adjustor, Kristi Loyer took lead on pulling all of the details together for our runners, coordinating and communicating and making it a smooth sailing event for the Wilber Group. She was most impressed with how our team stayed together in groups, demonstrating teamwork and hailing, “If we’re gonna die…we’re gonna die TOGETHER!”  Even the handful of runners that got lost in the woods (adding a mile or two extra to their experience) laughed that they, “just got a little more for their money!”

Overall, the day was a major success! The mental and physical work displayed were a true testament to the heart and spirit of our Wilber team. When asked if we will do it again next year, Coordinator Kristi Loyer says, “Heck YES!”
